Removing Cat Urine From
Carpet
Finding Cat urine on your carpet is not a
pleasant thing. But, it doesn't need to mean the end for the
carpet, or your cat!
With todays modern cleaners you can
absolutely clean all traces of pet urine from your carpet.
Removing Cat urine From
Carpet
Cat urine on your carpet can be a
nasty business indeed. The problem is that only a fraction of
the urine is accessible on top of the carpet for you to
clean.
Most of the urine gets soaked into the pad
of the carpet. Frequently the only way to get rid of the smell
is to remove the carpet... Costly and cumbersome.
One ounce of urine can spread out to a six
inch area with only a one to 2 inch visible spot on the
rug.
It is an absolute must to remove ALL traces of urine, not only
for the odor but any trace of urine can make your cat resoil
the same area.
That is an instinct millions of years old.
Can't retrain the cat about that... we just have to make sure
that the cat with their acute sense of smell can not sense any
trace of urine.
Using a Black-Light, which
is an UV light, will help you find
all urine spots on your carpets, wall, draperies...
It is not expensive and will make your
detective work very easy for finding and removing cat urine
from carpet.
Check this video of a man using a black
light to find cat urine on his carpet.
So, you've got a wet urine spot,
what to do first?
The absolute first step is to mop up as much of
the
urine as you can.
Then, we absolutely recommend Anti Icky Poo.
While there are a few other effective enzymatic
cleaners on the market, Anti Icky Poo is the
choice when urine has soaked into either carpet
or furniture.
Anti Icky Poo not only eliminates the odor
from your carpet it can also be injected into the carpet pad to
eliminate all traces of urine. Getting the odor out of
the pad is the most difficult step. With Anti Icky Poo you
inject the product into the carpet and pad, and it does it's
thing. No rinsing needed. It really is like
magic.
Determine the extent of the area that needs
to be treated and mark it with tape.
The size can vary somewhat and puddles can
overlap, (get that blacklight- it'll help immensely) also, when
there has been repeated urination on the same spot the urine
tends to spread more.
Then, with the injector, inject the Anti Icky
Poo every 4-6 inches. When you are completed, spray
the entire surface and then walk across the area to spread
the product into the padding.
That's it. No rinsing. No mess. No lifting
the carpet. And,,, no more odor!
Home made cleaner
Have no Anti Icky Poo at home? Well, we'd
recommend that you do get some. In the meantime to start
the cleaning process you can use some white vinegar mixed with
water.
Use one part white wine distilled vinegar to
two parts wam water and make a spray. Spray onto the
soiled areas and rub it in, then blot with clean
towels/papertowels. While this method IS usable, it
does not eliminate all traces of urine, making the risk
for re-soiling great.
