Discover WHY Your Cat is Going Outside the Box and
 How To Fix It.

Oh, No! Kitty peed on the mattress.... How in the world are you going to get that urine smell out??? 
 
And while it is SO frustrating to have cat urine soaked into your mattress, please do not scold, yell at, or punish your cat.

Your cat is NOT peeing on your bed/couch/expensive oriental rug to get even with you. Or because Kitty is mad at you...

OK, so now what to do?  Will you have to buy a new mattress/couch? Can it be salvaged?   

First, use absorbent towels and try to soak up as much of the urine as possible.
Do not add water in order to mop up more urine when it has soaked into the furniture/mattress.
This will result in a much more widespread stain, making it harder to clean properly.

Mattresses: Apply a generous amount of Anti Icky Poo and allow it to soak into the material.
If the contaminated area is horisontal, the AIP can be injected into the mattress. No rinsing required.  Sometimes, as more urine evaporates to the surface, a reapplication is necessary.
Keep the are inaccessible to the cat until it has dried completely which can take several days.

If the behavior has been repeated several times, you may need to discover why in order to stop the behavior. Urinating outside the box is a symptom of something not being OK.

It may pay to use a mattress cover until you have resolved the cause of your cats behavior.

The procedure pretty much follows the same as for the how to clean a mattress, but if the couch cushions have a cover, remove the cover and spray the product on the inside, and the outside.  Then, the product can be injected into the cushion, or you can work it in with a sponge.
Then, put the cushion back into the cover and you're finished!

Sometimes urine runs between the cushions and may spread horisontally as well as soaking into the frame of the furniture. Again, a blacklight is a must-have in order to find ALL the urine.
